Child and Family Services

ARCH Disability Law Centre: ARCH provides a range of legal services to people with disabilities who live in Ontario.

Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO): CLEO is a community legal clinic that produces clear language material to assist people with low incomes.

Law Help Ontario: Law Help Ontario provides information on school suspensions, from beginning through the appeal process.  Law Help Ontario is a project of Pro Bono Law Ontario (PBLO).  PBLO is the legal profession’s response to unmet civil legal needs. They have an Education Law Program that offers information for families and legal representation for those whose income does not exceed the financial eligibility cut-offs posted on their web site.

Child Advocacy Project (CAP): CAP is a free legal service for low-income children and families in Ontario who face challenges to their legal rights at school.

Justice for Children and Youth (JFCY): JFCY’s mandate is to provide legal information and make education materials more accessible to youth under the age of 18 in Ontario.

Legal Aid Ontario (LAO): Legal Aid Ontario gives low-income people access to a range of legal services tailored to meet their legal needs.

Consent and Capacity

Consent and Capacity Board: The Consent and Capacity Board is an independent body created by the Ontario government under the Health Care Consent Act.

Public Information Program: The CCB has developed a “Public Information Program;” an approximately one-hour long presentation provided by a CCB member or staff.

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) – Understanding Your Rights: CAMH is Canada’s largest mental health and addition treaching hospital, as well as one of the world’s leading reserach centres in the area of addiction and mental health.

Canadian Mental Health Association: The Canadian Mental Health Association is one of the oldest voluntary organizations in Canada. It provides direct mental health services and support to more than 100,000 Canadians across the country each year.

Reach Canada: Reach Canada’s mission is to improve the quality of life for citizens with disabilities by offering lawyer referral and educational services at the community level.

Pro-Bono Students Canada Court and Tribunal Project: Committed to ensuring future lawyers enter their profession with a pro bono philosophy, this organization uses law students to offer free legal services to public interest groups, community organizations, courts and tribunals across Canada.

The Human Rights Legal Support Centre: The Human Rights Legal Support Centre offers human rights legal services to individuals throughout Ontario who have experienced discrimination contrary to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

The Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO): The HRTO plays an important role in ensuring that the rights under the Human Rights Code have real meaning and that applicants, respondents, and intervenors have the opportunity to be heard through a fair and law-based process to resolve issues and violations of the Code.

Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB): CNIB is a registered charity, passionately providing community-based support, knowledge and a national voice to ensure Canadians who are blind or partially sighted have the confidence, skills and opportunities to fully participate in life.

Easter Seals Ontario: Easter Seals Ontario provides programs and services to children and youth with physical disabilities across Ontario to help them achieve greater independence, accessibility and integration.

Integration Action for Inclusion in Education and Community: Integration Action for Inclusion is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to educational inclusion and community living for people who need extra support.

Justice for Children and Youth: Justice for Children and Youth is a legal aid clinic that specializes in protecting the rights of those facing conflicts with the legal system, education, social service or mental health systems.

Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario (LDAO): The Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario is a registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth and adults with learning disabilities.

Legal Aid Ontario : LAO gives low-income people access to a range of legal services tailored to meet their legal needs.

Ontario Association for the Deaf (OAD): OAD is working for the purpose of ensuring equality and protecting the rights of Deaf Ontarians.

Ontario Coalition for Inclusive Education Ontario Coalition for Inclusive Education: The Ontario Coalition for Inclusive Education is comprised of organizations that are committed to supporting individuals who have a disability, their families, friends and advocates.

Parents for Children’s Mental Health (PCMH): PCMH is a provincial, non-profit, parent-led organization that provides a voice for families who face challenges of child and youth mental health issues.

Pro Bono Law Ontario (PBLO): PBLO is a charitable organization that promotes access to justice in Ontario by creating and promoting opportunities for lawyers to provide pro bono (free) legal services of limited means.

VOICE for Hearing Impaired Children: Operated by parents, VOICE offers support to other families with children who are deaf and hard of hearing.
